Hildebrand is a referral only shelter organization, which means families are referred to us through the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), the state agency that manages the Emergency Assistance shelter program. To receive emergency assistance from DHCD, you must qualify to be eligible. Please see the Federal Poverty Guidelines and DHCD's Housing Stabilization Notice to see if you qualify.

If you are homeless and already receiving Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC), please contact your case worker to determine eligibility for Emergency Assistance Family Shelter. Otherwise, please contact your local DTA Office. Your local DTA office can be found by using the link below.

Shelters for individuals and couples without children provide beds on a first come, first served basis. The Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless keeps an up-to-date list of all shelters in the state. Individuals should call the shelter directly to check availability. Victims of Domestic Violence

All shelters for domestic violence survivors have 24-hour hotlines, and generally accept only women who are in imminent danger. Many times, they will refer women to a “Safe House” outside of her own community. Use the link below to find a domestic violence shelter near you.
